Mr. James C. (Jim) Suber was selected as the new WPEC Executive Director effective July 1, 2021.

 

Suber is a lifelong resident of Newberry County.  Immediately after graduating from college, he was hired by the School District of Newberry County to teach and coach at his high school alma mata. He taught, coached basketball and football and served as athletic director for twenty-two years.

 

Mr. Suber climbed the ranks from teacher to assistant principal to principal in that time.  From his principalship, he went on to serve as Assistant Superintenent of Operations and Administration.  After the tragic death of Superintendent Bennie Bennett in April 2016, he was named Interim Superintendent and then Superintendent in May 2016.  Suber retired on June 30, 2021 after a career of forty-one years in education.

 

Mr. Suber graduated from Newberry College in 1980 and earned his Master's in Educational Administration and Supervision from Clemson University in 1998.
