    Meet Dr. Billy Strickland...
    Dr. Strickland is Executive Director of the Western Piedmont Education Consortium which serves twelve school districts in the Western Piedmont Region of South Carolina. Dr. Strickland has been an educator for almost four decades. He has experience as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, coach, and district administrator.  He recently retired as superintendent of Laurens School District 55 after serving in that capacity since 2009. Dr. Strickland has been involved with the Consortium since 1998.  
     
    Dr. Strickland received his bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina, master's degree from Winthrop University and a doctorate from Nova Southeastern University.
     
    Dr. Strickland is involved with many organizations in his community and has served on the board of visitors for Piedmont Technical College and Lander University, on the SC Association of School Administrators Legislative Platform Committee, and as a member of the SC High School League Executive Committee.  He and his wife Celita, reside in Laurens, SC and have two sons, Matt and Seth.
